His will Not mine

Old patterns grip us so tightly! Even when the behavior pinches us painfully, we are loathe to give it up. Its familiarity makes it tolerable, knowable, somewhat manageable, and far less scary than trying something new. However, we are truly the luckiest people alive because now we have a training ground where it is safe to try new behaviors. We can discard old, self-defeating patterns in the safe environment of these Twelve Steps.

We are on this recovery path because each of us wants a new life. We have grown sick and tired of the old ways that no longer work. And we have come to believe that change is possible if we look for it in the right place. This is the right place! At any meeting we can see others who, like us, are trying on new behaviors and meeting with success. We are role models for one another, and every time one of us tries a new response to an old situation, we are all heartened and stretched a bit. We know that what another can do, we can do too.  As long as I stay out of the way today change is possiable once I try to get things my way it's right back to the same old situation filled with fear anger and all the crap that follows.

God Bless

Ray

Hello,

This is an exciting time for Recovery Universe. I have taken a long break from actually being involved in the site. Real life has taken me away.

I recently had the opportunity to pursue my life long dream of doing computer programming as a profession. Unusual circumstances afforded me the ability to make another HUGE life change. It has been extremely rewarding and challenging as well. In the last couple years I have become alot more comfortable with web design and programming. I have learned alot of new techniques and in turn plan to share them here.

Because I am working in the field I find my computer use at home alot more limited. Let's face it, by the time I get home the last thing I wanna see sometimes is a computer.

The thing that has been lacking for me is doing it as a hobby. I am starting to miss that. What better way to get back involved with designing and programming as hobby, than working on my favorite, first site I ever created.

This has been long overdue...

Just a few things you will notice in the new site are:

  • Blogging
  • Social Networking
  • Cleaner Forums
  • Same Cool Video Chat Rooms
  • Comments System
  • Optimized code
  • And all the original cool stuff we have all loved about RU for the last 5 years!

So what are you waiting for? Go explore! It's been really fun throwing this 4th version of the site together. There are tons of cool new features and hidden jems.

I can only hope that you all like the new site 1/2 as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Yours in Recovery!

-James Del Priore.
